Brought a tear to my eye! - Welcome to “I Slip My Moorings and Sail Away”, an original piece by my artist friend Neil Hearn ... this one is very personal and close to my heart, and I absolutely adore it. Thank you Nellie darling. 🥰 The title is in reference to a poem that I read out at my darling Dad’s funeral nearly 6 years ago ... he loved the water (Merchant Navy, Butlins redcoat, lifeguard, marine engineer, champion rockpooler) and the beautiful poem I found really helped me to more clearly visualise his passing and deal with my grief in a comforting way. As soon as I saw Nellie’s creation, that same gentle journey described in the poem immediately sprang to my eyes, and I could see the little dark wooden rowing boat slowly drifting away, a gliding swan in front, and a confetti of multi coloured leaves settled on the water from the surrounding trees. Apologies for getting whimsical and the lengthy post (!!) but this truly means the world too me #foreverdaddysgirl 💕 ... and here is the poem:- Sometime at eve when the tide is low, I shall slip my moorings and sail away, With no response to a friendly hail, In the silent hush of the twilight pale, When the night stoops down to embrace the day And the voices call in the water's flow. Sometime at eve when the tide is low, I shall slip my moorings and sail away. Through purple shadows that darkly trail O'er the ebbing tide of the unknown sea, And a ripple of waters to tell the tale Of a lonely voyager, sailing away To mystic isles, where at anchor lay The craft of those who had sailed before O'er the unknown sea to the unknown shore. A few who have watched me sail away Will miss my craft from the busy bay; Some friendly barques were anchored near, Some loving souls that my heart held dear In silent sorrow will drop a tear; But I shall have peacefully furled my sail In mooring sheltered from the storm and gale, And greeted friends who had sailed before O'er the unknown sea to the unknown shore. Thank you Nellie for this amazing original piece, I will treasure it always. Lots of love darling boy. Lxxx 😘😘😘 Note we are not doing limited edition prints of this item via Facebook

Wonderfully talented artist, really nice guy. My son loves you. - Louise Kelley-Nicholls via Facebook
Met this wonderful, eclectic artist for the first time in the pop up shop, Calne, last Saturday. His work is a reflection of his open, flamboyant personality and is just up my street, I love the vibrancy and quirkiness of his paintings. Some contain a touch of humour others are simply beautiful to gaze upon and reflect on. Every piece contains a lovely story. Whatever mood you’re in you will find Nellie Hearn's work delights the soul and makes you smile. Just loving my original 'Uplifting Orange' - thank you Nellie - Daphne Nock via Facebook
I love the art, but that's only a part of the story. If you get the chance to have a chat with Neil and Jonny. They are two of the funniest guys and they have so many stories to tell.
